The Apache Relay are a six piece band who came all the way from Nashville, Tennessee to perform at Canadian Music Week. One of their many performances was at 2pm at Sonic Boom Records on the final day of in-stores there for the festival. Even though I had never heard of the group before, they have opened for Mumford & Sons and a few other big names, and will also be accompanying Young The Giant in April on a few tour dates.
The Apache Relay were an incredibly talented group with a great sound that is similar to that of Young The Giant, Walk The Moon and Mumford & Sons. I personally though, prefer their music to all three of those bands. Their sound is a great fusion of a variety of different styles of music.
The band was awesome live! They were probably the largest band to play at Sonic Boom for CMW this year but they still put on a great performance, despite the small amount of space onstage. You could tell all of the many members were very passionate about what they were doing, and this helped to further enhance the band's show. Also all of the band was incredibly nice afterwards, chatting with new fans.
The Apache Relay's in-store was one of my favourite performances at Sonic Boom due to both their music and their show. I would definitely go see them again if they were in Toronto and doing an all-ages show. They are also one of my "must see" and "must hear" recommendations from Canadian Music Week!
