I was more than excited to have the chance to see the Northern Irish
band, Two Door Cinema Club live. After listening to their newest release, Beacon, I knew the show would be great.
Their latest album is packed with catchy indie-pop tunes
that you can’t help but dance along to. It definitely lives up to their prior
release. The songs take on a slightly different tone though, with a more mature
and mainstream sound than their original material.
The concert was great, and the venue was packed full with fans of
the band. The opening acts were decent enough for the most part. There were two
different bands that performed, and both had a decent sound, though were
nothing exciting. The first band, Moon King was very good. They were nothing
exciting or new but I did enjoy their songs. The second band Guards, was not as great in my opinion and I was bored early on in their set.
Two Door Cinema Club were able to make up for this slight
disappointment though. They put on a great set packed to the brim with energy
and upbeat tempos. Everyone in the crowd was at least bobbing their head along,
if not dancing! The band played a good variety of both old favourites and new
hits. Their set was slightly on the shorter side though, but even so they made
up for it in skill. All their songs were masterfully performed, and the group
of them seemed genuinely happy to be able to perform for a crowd of thousands
in Toronto. I really enjoyed myself at the show and would absolutely go see Two
Door Cinema Club again! No one could help but leave the show with a smile of
their face.
