Jackie Valentine at the CNE

Never thinking I'd get to see as many amazing concerts as I did in Hong Kong, when all the free concerts were on at the Canadian National Exhibition, I thought I may as well go and get my live music fix.
Jackie Valentine, a new band from Vancouver was opening for Marianas Trench at the Ex. They were pretty good live, their sound wasn't too bad and they seemed like an okay bunch. Their songs were catchy, a bit of a Maroon 5, upbeat pop sound. The lead singer talked quite a bit to the crowd and seemed personable enough but after about a song or two, all it seemed that he could talk about was their new album that would be coming out and to request their new single on the radio. Which at first wasn't that bad but after about the tenth time, then maybe you don't even want to hear them on the radio...
So they were a relatively good band, and weren't too shabby live but they have a bit of a problem with self-promotion.
