Classic Albums Live - Rubber Soul & Revolver

You must be thinking by now how many more Beatles tribute shows I can see? Well my answer to that is: remember we are talking about The Beatles!
Classic Albums is a tribute group based out of Toronto. They consist of session musicians who come together every so often to perform a full length classic rock album (or in this case, two) by a famous rock groups such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles and many more. Also at the end of each set they perform a greatest hits collection of the artist, covering the favourites missed off these albums.
As you have read in earlier posts, I've seen Rain: A Tribute to The Beatles twice but this show was completely different. It still payed great dues to the greatest music of the 60s and possibly the 20th century, but in a different form. Classic Albums is about the music and nothing else, all the musicians were smartly dressed in all black and did the best they could to recreate the fab four's music, though they did not emulate them quite as much with their voices.
Rubber Soul and Revolver are two of my all time favourite albums. I absolutely adore Revolver! They did a great job on both. Instead of just using a keyboard to play the sounds of other instruments outside of drums, guitar and bass they actually had a string quartet and a brass quartet, as well as a sitar player! The audience was very into the performance at Roy Thomson Hall (my first time being there when not on a school trip.) There was someone in the exquisite hall that kept shouting "yeah" really loudly throughout the show which everyone was amused by. There was a nice vibe throughout the audience filled with Beatles and Classic Album fans. The song that probably got the biggest applause out of the audience was a George song, specifically the sitar centered one, Love You To, which came as a bit of a surprise. Though it was very well done and was one of my favourites of the night.
I quite enjoyed the show and would be interested in seeing them again covering a different album, which will be happing in a few months at Massey Hall with Queen's A Night at the Opera. Anybody with a taste for classic rock and listening to full length albums will surely enjoy these shows!
Classic Albums Live perform The Beatles' Love You To in Florida.
Video was not allowed at the show so this was the best I could find!

Just saw their performance of Rubber Soul/Revolver and I loved it! They did an equally great job with Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road and Let it Be in past shows. Their hits compilation afterwards included "I Am the Walrus" and "Hey Jude". Both met with thunderous applause. Terrific show!
