The National - High Violet

Going to The National's concert, I only knew a few of their songs. I was still very excited as it was very interesting for an indie/alternative band to be playing the ACC, along with an indie folk rock duo and a country indie folk pop singer.
It turned out that The National put on an amazing show! Matt Berninger was a very unique front man. He had a certain stage persona which included pacing around the stage and swinging the mic stand almost like a pendulum, which caused him to break one a few songs into the set. He also told us how he thought "health and safety is lame" due to the fact that not many people were allowed to be on the floor but since he had an all access pass, he could escort people onto the floor, meaning he brought about half of the front section onto the floor. He also walked through the crowd during Terrible Love while he was singing with a plugged in mic, showing his trust of the audience as they passed the long cord above their heads, along with him. During the encore, the band performed Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks acoustic without any mics. Matt stood on one of the amps infront of the stage and ran around while singing, while the rest of the band along with the lead singer/guitarist from Wye Oak, sang along and played guitar or percussion instruments.
The National put on an amazing show and had a great line up. They are definitely a must see show!
