Martha Wainwright at Sonic Boom CMW

Martha Wainwright was probably the most famous name to grace Sonic Boom during Canadian Music Week of 2012, with her practically being Canadian music royalty.
Martha Wainwright's set was spontaneous, she came through the rather large 5 o'clock crowd that had gathered for her with her acoustic guitar strapped on, climbed onto stage, and briefly tested her mic. She performed a setlist, which she picked as she went, of four completely new songs, which are to be on her forthcoming album. She only played new songs since they were still fresh in her head from recording - which her album is currently in mixing she told the audience.
The songs kept the same style that Martha Wainwright has only been known for but they were still very good, and definitely not boring! She was also very nice and charismatic, telling the story behind each song that she performed and being especially friendly to all those wishing for signatures of their albums, posters or other memorabilia after the show.
I enjoyed this performance quite a bit even though it was short compared to all the other in-stores during CMW. It was also a change from the other shows earlier that day, with there being a rather large crowd for the singer.
All in all, Martha Wainwright is still a great musician, and definitely a must-see on your list of Canadian live music!
