Loverboy at the CNE

Loverboy, essentially the Canadian Bon Jovi. Though they haven't quite grown up out of their 80s rockstar style. [Also Bon Jovi has actually written a couple songs with and for Loverboy.]
When I saw they were going to be one of the free shows at the CNE I thought it would be fun to see a Canadian rock band. On the day of the show I was going to a Toronto FC game on the fair grounds but thought the concert might be over by the time the match was finished. I was wrong though and only missed the opening act and their first two songs.
Loverboy put on a good rock show for their age, and the lead singer, Mike Reno; his voice was still in good shape. Also the band still consists mainly of original members unlike many other classic rock bands today. Their drummer who has been with them since the beginning of the band, can still drum really well and was doing some awesome solos. They played a solid setlist of old hits (though probably the only song that had been big, especially outside of Canada was Working For The Weekend.) The show wasn't that long, only around ten songs but it was expected since it was a free show. The crowd there was mainly middle-aged people (no surprise.) There were some people my age, but the girls especially seemed to have been the ones dragged along by their parents and not vice versa, like my case. The bandshell grounds also were the most crowded they had been so far at a concert this year, outdoing Marianas Trench. Since I was late getting to the show I was towards the back of the crowd outside of the main audience section. Instead I was off to the side again like with Marianas Trench and Petula Clarke but further back and standing.
